The annual Connected Summit, now in its 12th year running, will this year be hosted at the Diamonds Leisure Lodge in Diani.
During the 4-day technology summit that brings together professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders in the technology industry, the ICT Authority will involve the locals in a major Corporate Social Responsibility project as part of its commitment to giving back to the society.
The project will focus on providing basic needs such as food to the less fortunate families in the county. The ICT Authority recognizes the need to support and uplift communities, and this CSR project is just one of the ways we are contributing to society. Moreover, the authority will also launch a free public Wi-Fi as part of a digital CSR primed to enhance the access of ITCs in the entire country.
Speaking about the CSR project, Macline Odhiambo, the Chief Procurement Officer at ICT Authority said, “This year’s CSR project is relevant to the technology summit in several ways. First, the summit provides a platform for technology professionals and leaders to come together and share ideas on how to use technology to address social issues. By launching the free public WiFi project, we are enhancing the actualization of the ideas and solutions discussed during the summit.”
Technology is a powerful tool that can be used to improve the lives of people in underserved communities, especially when available for free access.
The food stuff and hygiene products distributed will provide support to the less fortunate people in Kwale County and especially the school going girls who cannot afford such commodities.
As leaders in the technology industry, ICT Authority has a responsibility to use its skills and resources to benefit the society. The CSR project is a demonstration of its commitment to being socially responsible and giving back to society.
The #ConnectedSummit CSR project is a noble cause that bears significant relevance to the technology summit as it appreciates the power of technology in addressing social issues, and reflects ICT Authority’s commitment to being socially responsible as leaders in the technology industry.
All partners and industry leaders who wish to join hands towards this noble call are encouraged to register their intention at www.connected.go.ke.
We invite all attendees of the summit to join us in this noble cause and make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in Kwale County.
